Guided tours

Step into one of New York City’s most storied neighborhoods and uncover the rich tapestry of Jewish life in the Lower East Side. Once home to the largest Jewish population in the world, this vibrant, bustling area was a gateway for generations of immigrants—and a birthplace for American Jewish culture, activism, religion, and resilience.

On this 90-minute walking tour, we’ll trace the footsteps of the Jewish immigrants who arrived by the millions starting in the mid-19th century, fleeing poverty, persecution, and instability in Eastern Europe. With hope in their hearts, they built new lives in crowded tenements, launched labor movements, founded synagogues and newspapers, and helped shape the very soul of New York City.

Their legacy still echoes in the architecture, food, language, and street names of today’s Lower East Side.
